Costumes, Hair and Make-up

Costumes

No hassle for you, we provide the costumes!

CBT provides all the costumes for your child’s performance and your rental fee was included in the performance fee! CBT is even in charge of getting costumes to the performance so you don’t have to worry about that! There are a few things that each student must provide;

Girls: *Nude camisole leotard, light pink or white full-footed tights. (No holes, no runs, no ankle tights, no stir-ups!) Pink or white leather or canvas (no silk type) ballet slippers in good condition.

*Please know that the nude camisole leotard should be treated as “under” clothing and should not be worn alone (or your child looks nude!) Your child only need to wear it for performances.

Boys: Black “biker” shorts, white socks, and black ballet slippers in good condition.

We understand that some children don’t like to “dress-up”. We have made the costumes very simple and have practiced wearing them in class, however, if it makes a child upset to put on their costume we will not force them to wear it. The child is perfectly fine performing in the leotards and tights they wore to the theater. Our goal is to get them on stage!

Hair

No BANGS!

Bangs cast shadows on the children’s faces while on stage, so please pull them back! Doing your daughter’s hair while it is damp or wet and using hair gel (such as Dippity-Doo or Hair Glue) will make your daughter’s hair last better throughout the night and help to hold head pieces on. We realize that some of our performers don’t have a lot of hair, if this is the case please talk to the front desk-or your child’s teacher for help. We have a lot of good ideas!

Girls: Hair should be pulled back into a classical ballet bun with NO BANGS. The bun

should rest in the middle of the back of their head, NOT on top of the head.

Make-up

YES! We get to wear a little make-up!

If your child would like to put on a little bit of light make up, that is fine (and a lot of fun!), but please go easy and don’t make it too heavy. Make up gets on everything! We suggest keeping it very simple: grey eye shadow, black mascara, light red/brown toned rouge and lip gloss. This is a children’s ballet and we believe our performers should look like children! Please, DO NOT send any make up with your child!
