Jenessa Erickson - PreBallet

Ballet is something that has meant so much to me my whole life. It allows young children to gain an appreciation of classical art, music, and of course traditional classical ballet at a young age. I love to see that progress in the students I teach as they grow up.

Growing up, CBT was like a second home to me. It was here that I learned not only ballet but also so many life skills. I learned the value of hard work, what it means to be dedicated to and have passion for something, and how to love and respect those around me. Teaching at CBT helps me to be able to continue to give these lessons further to younger children.

I love ballet because it truly is art. It has always helped me to have a greater technique for other forms of dance as well as other physical activities. Since ballet is not always easy it continually gives me a goal to strive for. Reaching these goals and hitting that next pirouette always has given me more confidence and determination in the dance studio and in life.

My philosophy as a dance teacher is to help little ballerinas reach their potential. Everyone is different and everyone has different strengths and weaknesses. As a teacher it is important to be in tune with the abilities of each student so that they can reach their personal best. When you are able to do that, students can have confidence in themself and have their personal success or “ah-hah” moment that brings a smile to their face. It really is about helping each child learn to have passion in this art.
